Start With Your Priorities

What Do You Want to Protect?

Whether you want coverage focused on major drivetrain components or a broader range of vehicle systems, we can help you review the options available for your make, model, year, mileage, and use.

Engine and Drivetrain

Start with plans covering specified engine, transmission, and drive-axle components. Coverage for turbochargers, transfer cases, and related equipment depends on the plan and any required selections.

Ask for the exact covered-parts list rather than relying on the word “powertrain” alone.

More Mechanical Systems

Expanded plans can add specified steering, suspension, cooling, air-conditioning, brake-system, and electrical components beyond the basic drivetrain coverage.

Covered brake-system components do not automatically include routine brake-pad or rotor replacement.

Electronics and Vehicle Technology

If infotainment, control modules, sensors, or driver-assistance equipment matter to you, ask us to compare the applicable technology coverage and exclusions.

Not every electrical or technology component is included in every plan.

Broader Exclusionary Coverage

Exclusionary plans cover eligible breakdowns except those excluded by the contract, subject to all other conditions and limits. They provide a different coverage structure from plans that list only the parts covered.

“Exclusionary” does not mean every repair or expense is covered.

Driving a Hybrid or Electric Vehicle?

Tell us which components you want protected, including charging equipment, electric-drive systems, or the high-voltage battery. Eligibility and covered components vary by contract. Hybrid or EV coverage does not automatically mean the traction battery is covered.

Our Contract Options

Four Sources of Vehicle Protection

We offer the coverage levels described in these contracts, subject to vehicle eligibility and the terms of the selected product. Similar plan names can cover different components, so we compare the details with you.

Contract Name Coverage Levels What to Compare
First Mile Powertrain, Gold, Gold Plus, Platinum Listed-component protection at the lower levels and broader exclusionary protection under Platinum, with contract exclusions and limits.
Magellan Service Corporation Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum Progressively expanded listed-component coverage and Platinum exclusionary coverage. Review equipment surcharges and applicable hybrid/EV provisions.
Warranty Solutions Silver, Gold, Platinum Silver drivetrain-focused coverage, expanded Gold coverage, and Platinum exclusionary coverage. Review applicable options, mileage rules, and waiting periods.
DOWC Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Level 4 Exclusionary, Level 4 Exclusionary Wrap Compare listed-component and exclusionary protection. TechShield is included with Levels 3 and 4 and can supplement Levels 1 or 2 as described in the contract. Wrap coverage needs to be reviewed alongside existing manufacturer coverage.

The Warranty Solutions contract identifies WS Aftermarket Services Corporation as its administrator/provider, subject to applicable state provisions. The contract issued for your vehicle identifies the responsible parties and governs coverage.

Beyond the Repair

Ask About Additional Benefits

Depending on the selected contract, benefits may include emergency roadside assistance, towing, rental or transportation allowances, and trip-interruption assistance.

These benefits have their own eligibility rules, expense limits, and claim procedures. Ask us to explain what triggers each benefit, whether receipts or authorization are required, and what costs remain your responsibility.

Some products also offer specific optional equipment, use, or maintenance provisions. These must be reviewed and selected where required; they are not automatically included with every plan.

Purchase Eligibility

When Can You Purchase Coverage?

If You Buy From Autos of Chicago

You can request an eligible vehicle service contract at the time of purchase or within 15 days after buying your vehicle from us.

Contact our team promptly so we can review available plans and the purchase requirements for your vehicle.

If You Bought Somewhere Else

You can also contact us about coverage for a vehicle purchased elsewhere. We require documentation and will review eligibility before offering a contract.

Start with your VIN, make, model, year, current mileage, and purchase details. Our team will explain which additional documents or checks are needed.

Purchase Timing and Coverage Start Dates Are Different

The 15-day purchase window does not guarantee immediate coverage. A waiting period or other requirements may apply under the selected contract. Existing problems are not automatically covered by purchasing a new plan.

A Quote for Your Vehicle

How Much Does an Extended Warranty Cost?

We provide individual quotes because the cost depends on your vehicle and the protection you select. There is no single price that fits every car or customer.

  • Vehicle details: make, model, model year, mileage, and applicable equipment.
  • Coverage: the components and systems included in the selected plan.
  • Term: the available time and mileage limits.
  • Deductible: your share of an eligible covered repair under the contract.
  • Options and use: applicable selections, surcharges, and vehicle-use requirements.

Tell us what you want to protect, and we will help you compare eligible options and their written terms.

Choosing Your Plan

What to Review Before Purchasing

  • The covered components and exclusions for the exact coverage level.
  • When coverage begins, including any waiting period.
  • How the time and mileage limits are calculated.
  • The deductible and how it applies to repair visits.
  • Claim limits and any parts, labor, or diagnostic-cost provisions.
  • Maintenance requirements and records you need to keep.
  • Repair authorization and eligible repair-facility requirements.
  • Cancellation and transfer provisions, including applicable fees and state amendments.

Our team can walk through these details before you decide. Purchasing a vehicle service contract is optional and is not required to buy a vehicle or obtain financing.

If a Problem Occurs

How a Covered Repair Is Reviewed

  1. Protect the vehicle. Stop driving if continued operation could cause further damage.
  2. Follow your contract's claim instructions. Contact the administrator or have the repair facility contact them before diagnostic teardown or repairs, as required.
  3. Obtain authorization. The administrator reviews the diagnosis, coverage, and proposed repair. Follow any specific emergency-repair provisions if the administrator is unavailable.
  4. Provide requested records. Maintenance receipts or other documentation may be needed.
  5. Review your share of the cost. Deductibles, excluded work, and expenses above contract limits remain your responsibility.

Have questions about service at our dealership? Contact our service department. Coverage decisions and repair authorizations follow the administrator's contract procedures.

Your Questions

Extended Warranty FAQs

What is a vehicle service contract?

A vehicle service contract is an optional agreement that provides protection for eligible repairs under its written terms. Often called an extended warranty, it is separate from the manufacturer's warranty and includes exclusions, limits, and customer responsibilities.

Which companies do you work with?

We offer contract options through First Mile, Magellan Service Corporation, Warranty Solutions, and DOWC. Available products and coverage depend on your vehicle's eligibility.

Can I purchase coverage after buying a car from you?

Yes. You can request eligible coverage within 15 days after purchasing your vehicle from Autos of Chicago. Contract-specific requirements and waiting periods may apply.

Can I purchase coverage if I bought my vehicle elsewhere?

Yes, subject to documentation and eligibility review. Contact us with your vehicle details so we can explain the requirements and available options.

What is the difference between powertrain and exclusionary coverage?

Powertrain plans generally list specific engine, transmission, and drivetrain components that are covered. Exclusionary plans cover eligible breakdowns except those excluded by the contract, subject to its other conditions. Compare the exact wording rather than assuming every plan with the same label is identical.

Are electronics, air conditioning, and suspension covered?

Coverage for these systems is available under certain plans, but the included components vary. Tell us which features matter to you so we can compare their coverage and exclusions.

Do you offer options for hybrid and electric vehicles?

Some contracts include hybrid/EV provisions or options for eligible vehicles. Ask about specific components, including charging equipment and the high-voltage battery, because coverage differs by plan.

Does coverage start immediately?

Not always. Start dates and waiting periods depend on the contract, purchase timing, and applicable requirements. We will review those terms with you before purchase.

Does a service contract cover routine maintenance?

Routine maintenance is generally separate from breakdown coverage. Specific maintenance options may be available under certain products. Public service specials and occasional dealership promotions are separate offers, not automatic contract benefits.

Can I use a repair facility outside Autos of Chicago?

Repair-facility requirements vary by contract. Check the administrator's rules and obtain any required approval before diagnostic work, teardown, or repairs.

Can I cancel or transfer my contract?

Cancellation and transfer provisions vary by product and applicable state amendments. Refund calculations, fees, deadlines, and restrictions are explained in your contract. Ask us to review them before purchase.

How do I request a quote?

Use our Contact Us page or call (224) 858-4007. Provide your VIN or vehicle details, current mileage, purchase date, and the components you want to protect.

This page summarizes optional vehicle service contract options and does not replace the contract. Coverage, eligibility, options, waiting periods, deductibles, time and mileage limits, claim procedures, exclusions, and benefits vary by product and vehicle. Not all components or repairs are covered. The issued contract and applicable state amendments govern. Separate dealership promotions are subject to their own written terms.
